Professor of Brand Marketing, BSc, PhD
 
Leslie de Chernatony obtained a first class honours degree in Physics from the University of Kent, then spent seven years in the marketing departments of blue chip organisations. Intrigued by the impact of retailer power on producers' brands, he moved to the university sector and while a lecturer in Marketing at the Cranfield School of Management completed his doctorate in brand marketing. His research focuses on brand marketing and has resulted in a significant number of publications in European, American and Asian journals, along with numerous presentations at international marketing conferences. His articles and conference papers have won best paper prizes. Leslie's work has resulted in TV programmes and radio broadcasts. He has had several books published. Having won several major research grants, he leads a team of researchers, as Director of the Centre for Research in Brand Marketing, investigating factors associated with brand success.
 
Leslie de Chernatony sits on the Editorial Boards of numerous journals, is a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Market Research Society, the Academic Senate at the Chartered Institute of Marketing and on the Advisory Board of the Financial Services Forum. Leslie held a Visiting Professorship at the Madrid Business School and is currently Visiting Professor at Thammasat University in Bangkok and the University of Lugano. A firm advocate of the need for managers to benefit from his work on brand marketing, he has run many highly acclaimed management development workshops throughout Europe, the Middle East, Far East and Asia. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
 
Leslie de Chernatony has published several highly acclaimed books on Brand Management and Branding and is currently doing research on Reputation Management.
